As yesterday progressed, it did look increasingly as if conditions would not last into today after all; with the breeze already swinging round to the south east, and the likelihood that the swell would drop also according to ceefax.

I decided to have a look anyway as there was little or no wind when I looked outside around 6.45am. Worryingly as I got closer to the coast though, there was more and more movement in the trees and bushes. And so it was as I pulled into Huttoft, I was greeted with a sea being messed up by a persistant onshore breeze. There were though signs of there being an equivalent if not slightly bigger wave than yesterday, so I decided to hang on a bit and see if it improved some as the tide receeded and got onto the banks. Similar peaks seemed to be there so I got in just before 9am, an hour after HT.

It was clear while paddling out that the chop was increasing with more and more windswell from the south east starting to muck it up. However there were some waves to get into, and my mind went back to some of the summer sessions in Cornwall on onshore days, and how much fun they turned into. Getting into these waves though proved trickier with a lot of bumpy stuff upsetting the take off's. That said, I did manage to generally combat this, though the resulting rides were more 'point and go' towards shore, rather than anything with more finesse. Not that I'd boast of such qualities in general of course!

An hour in the water proved enough though. The temptation of a bite to eat when I got home, and to settle down in front of the TV to watch England stuff Georgia at rugby, and a re-run of this morning's Japanese GP was more than what was on offer here. Reckon that could be it for a while but as a start to the autumn, this last 3 weeks have been promising. More please Big G.
