"There is a _strong_ cross shore rip along the whole coast. Drift with it rather than try and stay on one peak. In a lot of places the rip changes direction when the tide changes from push to ebb... means you can get in an hour before high tide and get out an hour after high tide at pretty much the same spot. Watch out for the groynes at high tide as they are not necessarily visible."
"Anyone know of a decent place to park up/get changed?" "Decent as in free??? If you come into Cromer along the main road from Norwich, you hit the seafront by the pier. Turn left to go to Runton. If you turn right and drive through the one way system towards Overstandwell you can either drop down to park by the pier; or, if it's not too windy and don't need the shelter then keep driving a bit further along and you can turn left into a road just after the little park/bowling green and park up in front of someone's house and get changed there. There's a set of steps that drop down through the bowling green to bring you out on the beach about 100yds east of the pier-it's normally pretty quiet here as no one can be arsed to walk down from the main carpark by the pier and if you get the tide right there is a nice peak that forms over one of the groynes."

"East Runton is not too bad but is at it's best only an hour either side of high tide. there's a flint reef off shore that blocks swell at any other state of the tide. Since the sewage pipe was removed (which used to provide a nice shape to the main peak) it's much the same as Cromer; perhaps worse as you can't get the shelter from the wind that you sometimes get behind the pier."
"East Runton can be good but works from mid to high water so a tide time table is of some use. There is a car park and toilets just above the beach. Do display a ticket. Forget to put one in the window and it could cost £25.00!"
