It's surprising how cold the water can be as it doesn't get warmed by the gulf stream as it does here [UK]. (By S. of France, I assume as a surfer you mean south of the W. Coast, not the South of France Med coast) So, you'll probably need a similar suit to one you'd use here.....pack the 5mm just in case and when there treat yourself to a nice new fexible 3/2mm summer convertible suit..."
