"Stayed in Corralejo which is on the north east corner of the island and within driving distance of all the good spots. As far as car hire there's loads of places at the airport. There's loads of reef breaks along the north track - the best are all in Stormrider Europe - favorite was La Generosa really nice left but gets pretty busy when its good. Suicides, the Bubble, and many more. Theres a great beach break on the west coast at Cotillo. If you go to the south end of the beach theres a good right when its working. Its really easy to find empty beaches especially if you go right down the south of the island."
"I went in November a few years ago and watched in awe as the north and west coasts were treble overhead and very, very heavy.... the east coast was a nice head high, albeit onshore, size and very mellow! I reckon late August into September will be nice waves on the north and west coasts. N not too big, not too small. Either that or flat."
"Can anyone tell me if they have ever had trouble bringing a longboard to Fuerte ?" "Went to Fuerte last November and had some problems (with a shortboard) - cheap flight from Stansted where they didn't charge on the outwards flight. On coming back, checking in at Fuerte they demanded to see the receipt/ticket for the board and were suddenly demanding cash to transport it. Kicked up a fuss and managed to get it on for free, as did most of the other people on the flight. Speaking to others, the best idea is to let the airline know in advance that you'll be taking a board. You may or may not have to pay, depending on the airline-but the people at Fuerte airport are not really surfer friendly so best to sort it out before you go. It's also worth knowing that bus drivers won't let you take boards on buses even if you try and bribe them - and taxi's take some convincing to shove them through the window. Hire a car!"
"Camp out on the N. Coast if you can. This is where you'll find the most perfection when it's right. But be mobile if you can. If the N. Coast isn't working then head for S. Cotillo on the west side. There's a steep sided bay that gets a good thick swell when no where else is working (go easy though... rough track down there and I blew three tyres in 2 weeks). But if you are mobile, you might as well stay in Coralejo. Great eatery's and bars."
