"This is the next beach down from Godrevy and will generally be 2ft smaller. There are good lefts and rights at the point in front of the Lifeguard tower but take care at half tide because there are rocks which suck dry. Any wind from S-SE is best. A very popular spot with windsurfers because prevailing SW'rly wind is cross-shore."
"Gwithian will pick up ANY swell that's going. Favour the far right hand side of the huge beach, Godrevy, towards the lighthouse, as the river runs out it sucks up a little better that the rest of the beach, not best known for its barrels, but I would compare it to something like LLangenith,(Rhossilli..pardon the spelling). IF the swell is big it WILL hold, which is unusual for a beach break, I managed to sponge it back about 7 years ago at over 8ft++, If you have a longboard you'll love it, but shortboarders don't despair, its just as good, whatever the craft!"
"Paradise Park Parrot Sanctuary is just down the road. It's a dead cert with the kids."
"Is it just down the road from Hayle? If it is, there is a great pub (good food, good beer, table football) Just down he road. It's called the 'Bucket of Blood'."
"It is one of the safest beach breaks around, although at low tide Godrevy can get pretty heavy. There is a long stretch of beach from Godrevy to Hayle river mouth which is about 3 miles long and all along it the surf is fairly mellow and breaks quite far out. At low tide there is a rip that runs from right to left and at mid-high tide it is the other way around. Apart from that there are 2 campsites by the beach and it is lifeguard patrolled so there're red and yellow flags for any sprogs you may have. Any wind with a westerly in it will blow it out and it picks up any swell going. So this is definitely the place to come!! Camborne is nearby and so is Hayle for any outings you wanna take your family. The cafe Sunset Surf does a mean fry up!!!"
"A Gwithian local has also told me that there is a reef in the centre of the beach where it can get pretty hollow!!!!!"
"When you get in the area nip into Hayle and see Trevor at Down The Line surf shop. He surfs Gwithian and the Red River so will be able to put you right. The beach is great if you get away from the holiday park area which is crowded. A little walk and you can be away from the crowds. From there its only a short trip over to Porthleven and the reef to the right of the harbour."
"Gwithian - no Gwithian is crap don't go there stay away - it's full of mad, loony serial killers and needles on the beach - plus if you have a family don't take you're kids - they'll be sold into white slavery by a vile disgusting gang that terrorises the neighbourhoods around those parts. As for the surf-never gets more than a ripple-in fact it's known to be the flattest beach in the entire world."
