After a trying few days vehicle wise, we can finally settle down ready to travel west in the early hours. The original plan had been to go down in the T25 but with one or two things ideally needed to be done 'underneath', we've opted to use the beamer once more. This in itself has been a fraught choice what with some last minute concerns; I'll illucidate.
With the acquisition of the veedub, the initial idea was to get shot of the beamer. With this in mind, and in the knowledge we may have to auction or break for spares as it's secondhand value is minimal, we've put off replacing the rear brake drums and shoes. Now with panic stations about the veedub, do you think we could find any drums? Right! Anyway, long story cut short, the brakes have been sorted to last a bit longer and the beamer gets the nod.
Will report back l8r.

Having missed out a couple of weeks back, more through indecision than anything else, Ben and I shot over to Sandilands late on yesterday to get in for an hour before dark.
Naips had rung me earlier in the day to let me know conditions were good and likely to improve even though he himself was unable to get in following surgery on his knee. That was enough to convince me to make the effort later, subject to any unforeseen delays etc. Thus it was, the boards and kit were loaded and we were off by 4.15.
Less than an hour later and we were suited and in, having arrived to find a nice clean, almost glassy 2-3' with the tide just turning after low. Happily it didn't take us long to get our first waves to get into some kind of rhythm following our 2 month lay off. Despite the conditions though, the wave quality wasn't at this stage of the tide particularly good. But that didn't matter, what did was to get wet, ride what was going and shake out any cobwebs before our travels later this week. Ben in particular is looking forward to getting down and picking up his new log. I suspect I won't here the last of this just yet!

Surfing has taken a back seat since the end of August, not necessarily though choice as ever. There has as far as I have been aware, only one reasonable day locally and I was unable to get. The day in question had been 50-50 prediction wise and as it turned out I could have got there in time had I been more confident of the conditions. Ho-hum.
Nevertheless, we have got a week sorted to go west on the 29th, and this time we'll have a different mode of transport to travel in, namely a VeeDub T25. {Grin}
